Brother lists approximately 1,200 pages for TN-730 and 3,000 for TN-760 under ISO/IEC 19752. Both are listed for the US HL-L2350DW. Compare the price per rated page, then allow for your actual printing conditions and the separate drum.

Replacement toner and the included starter are different

The following figures come from Brother’s US pages. They describe different supplies, so a new printer’s starter toner should not be assumed to last as long as a TN-760 replacement.

When is TN-760 cheaper per page?

Using the published yields, TN-760 offers 2.5 times the pages of TN-730: 3,000 ÷ 1,200 = 2.5. Its toner cost per rated page is lower when its price is less than 2.5 times the TN-730 price. Compare prices with the same treatment of tax and delivery.

  1. Example prices, not current offers: TN-730 at $50 gives $50 ÷ 1,200 ≈ $0.0417 per page.
  2. TN-760 at an example $90 gives $90 ÷ 3,000 = $0.03 per page. At these prices, the high-yield option costs less per rated page but requires $40 more at purchase.
  3. Enter your own prices in the printing-cost calculator. To compare toner for the same existing printer, set both printer purchase prices to zero and use the same paper price and printing volume.

Rated pages are a comparison figure

Brother identifies ISO/IEC 19752 and Letter/A4 paper for these toner yields. That is a specified test basis, not a promise that every mix of documents will reach the label figure. Use comparable yield figures on both sides; do not compare one cartridge’s real office log with another cartridge’s best-case advertising number.

If you do not have usage records, calculate once with the published yields and once with lower yields. Treat the second result as a sensitivity check, not a prediction of the printer’s actual output.

Keep the drum cost separate

The HL-L2350DW also uses a DR-730 drum in the US. Brother lists an approximate 12,000-page drum yield and notes that drum yield varies with use. It is a different component from the toner, with a different replacement interval.

The current calculator excludes separate drums. For a long-term estimate, add drum price ÷ your assumed drum life as a separate per-page allowance. Do not charge a new drum every time you replace toner.

Check the comparison

Both options use compatible supplies, comparable yield figures and the same treatment of tax and delivery. Keep the separate drum outside the toner-only comparison.

Common questions

Is TN-760 always the cheaper choice?

Using the published 3,000- and 1,200-page yields, TN-760 has a lower toner cost per rated page only when its price is less than 2.5 times the TN-730 price. Upfront spending and actual yield still matter.

Does a new HL-L2350DW include 3,000 pages of toner?

Brother’s US HL-L2350DW page lists starter toner at approximately 700 pages. The 3,000-page figure belongs to the TN-760 replacement cartridge. Check the contents of the exact regional package or bundle.
